Goal Setting and *Really* Accomplishing

I'm about two weeks shy of finishing my WIP.

I'm so excited. There's nothing like connecting the last few pieces of your story together and seeing it come to life.

Finishing a novel is a huge feat. But for me, finishing my second is an even BIGGER feat. It takes a lot to swallow rejection and try again. To put yourself out there. But you know what?

It's worth it.

So, because I'm completely consumed in finishing my project, I'm going to turn it over to my hubs who is the king of making crazy goals and accomplishing them. This year for his 30th birthday, he made a list of doing 30 items of 30 things in one day. Enjoy Project 30!

What are your current goals? How's your WIP coming along?

Red. Head. Out. :D

  1. Oh! There's nothing quite like the excitement you feel when you are about to finish a WIP.

I'm revising my novel at the moment as well as working on the first draft of the second novel.

  4. I will be 30 this year as well. What a fabulous idea. I think I will start first with finishing my WIP. It should be done in the next few weeks. I am too excited about that fact. I have even outlined and am working on a scene by scene breakdown of book 2. Woot!

  5. ...novel one is on the shelf. As for novel two...we'll call it a work in progress and sleep easy with that answer ;)

Watched the Youtube flik...heading to the basement where the treadmill awaits.

  6. Loved the video. I am happy for you being this close to finishing your WIP. I am 80% finished with THE RIVAL. And even though weariness from my job kept me from writing today (yesterday's 20 hours straight at the job kept me from writing, too), I feel enegized being this close to the finish line, too.

For some laughs, come check out my early post for Alex Cavanaugh in my sci fi version of THE HANGOVER, entitled, THE HANGOVER ... of Alex Cavanaugh, starring Ming the Merciless, Princess Ardala, the ghost of Mark Twain, Klingons, and a delusional teddy bear.

  7. Well done for being almost there, it's a brilliant feeling isn't it? I'm revising something at the moment, whilst making notes for what might or might not become the next project :-)

  10. I'm about 2 weeks from finishing my WiP too (the rough draft at least). Still have a pile of revisions and all that to do. Even so, it's exciting to see it come together :-)

  11. Things I think about the video: can't wait until he turns 100, 30 endowment session would have been more impressive, he does pull-ups like a rock climber, it's hilarious that he put on his biking gear to ride inside,I'm betting he spent some time in Peru, all children should learn three card monte young, and lastly, pretty sure our hubbies would be besties. :)

  15. 20 decimal places of pi? Seriously?! I'm a maths teacher and I've never tried that! Your husband is crazy-awesome!!
So... what video editing software does your husband (or whoever put together the video) use? Really want it!

And congrats on nearing the end of your WIP!

  16. Sorry, that was obviously meant to say "30 decimal places"!

  17. Ooh you're so close! That's always the point where I start dragging my feet. I dunno why. I get so close to the end and then I start petering out. Good luck!

  18. Awesome! Go MORGAN and Go HUBBY! That is so cool. And I'm excited for you being so close! I am about a month away from finishing my WIP and it's so exciting, but I think it'll be even more exciting the closer I get! So good luck to you! And way to keep going. That is what makes the difference!

  20. I swear that I'm such a workaholic that my goals change ALL the time.

I have a post in waiting on bigger writing goals, but the normal stuff - finishing edits, finishing a chap . . . yeah, those are my daily changes . ..

  21. Well, I'm trekking my way through another revision (with your help of course to get me done). It is going well. Life has been rather busy lately. All the things I have to do are driving me crazy. All I want to do is sleep but this book is more important. I couldn't do it without goals.

  22. That's awesome! I love that stage of writing.

I'll have to come back to watch the video when I have more time to blog. It sounds like a must-see from your post and the comments. :)

  23. Wow! 30 things in one day? That's awesome! Congrats on being so close to finishing your WiP! What a great feeling :) My goal is to start querying in March. That is two days away now and I'm trying my best to not push it off another month. Here's to hoping :)

  24. Okay, that video is cool. What a cool idea for a 30th bday :) Good luck on your WIP!!!

  25. You're almost there! Way to go! My WiP? Hard to say. This rewrite is taking longer than I wanted. But that's the ropes. I'll be 30 myself later this year. Maybe I could a learn a thing or two from this experiment. :)

  26. Awesome Hubby. I totally want to do that when I turn 30, though I guarantee there won't be nearly as many exercises on there :-)

Great job for almost being done! I'm waiting for feedback from beta readers, as well as going through and polishing my WiP a bit more, hoping to start querying in April, exactly a year after I began this story. Hoping for the best!

  29. Congrats! I just finished up my WIP by rewriting the entire ending when I realized that what I had planned wasn't what my characters had set up the whole time I was writing the rest of the book. I never saw it coming. It's so great to find out you've already left all the clues.

TAG! I've also tagged you on my blog. Be sure to drop by and check it out. http://bridgetsrantsnramblings.blogspot.com/

  30. Wow... Hubs has got whayyy too much energy (for me:) Well done to him, and glad you're in for the Got Green Blog hop.... It would be a sad day if the Red. Head. (was) Out. :)

  31. I really wonder some days if I will ever see an end to my WIP. One can only hope and keep working at it I suppose.

And I wanted to let you know that I passed on some awards to you, you should check it out.

  32. Yay for finishing WIPs! *throws confetti*

And your husband's video makes me want to do something like that for my 30th this year. Maybe then I'll actually look forward to it rather than dreading it like I do now. I think I'll aim lower with my goals, though, considering how hard some of that looks. ;)
